Dr. Edward Necco, Ed. D

Ed Necco, Ed.D. is Founding Partner, Vice President, and Senior Advisor at Carvaka. Dr. Necco has over 40 years of experience working with troubled children and youth. He received his doctorate in education, focusing on special education, at the University of Virginia in 1970. He also has a Master of Science degree in special education from Indiana University and a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education, also from Indiana University. Dr. Necco is considered an expert in his field, and has worked as a consultant for the state of West Virginia, the Huntington State Hospital, the Ohio Center for Youth and Family Development, and the HEED School for Autistic Children in Urbana, IL. Dr. Necco is retired from Marshall University in Huntington, WV where he taught as a professor in the special education program for 27 years. Dr. Necco has held memberships in a number of respected organizations such as the Council for Exceptional Children, the Council for Children with Behavioral Disorders, and the Council for Exceptional Children, Teacher Education Division, all in the state of West Virginia, as well as being a member of Phi Delta Kappa. Dr. Necco has been married for 49 years to Dorothy Necco. They have two children, twins, Beau Necco and Wendy Goodenough, and four grandchildren.


Dorothy Necco, M.A.

Dorothy has worked with children for over 35 years in various capacities including the public school system, special education, and private provision of care for special needs populations. She graduated in 1963 from Indiana University with a bachelor's degree in elementary education, and an endorsement in special education, area of behavior disorders. In 1970 Dorothy earned a master's degree in elementary education, also from Indiana University. Currently, she is an owner and co-founder of Carvaka, Inc. where she serves on the board of directors. In addition, she is a Senior Advisor providing consultation to staff on programming issues, and assists with training and development initiatives for both staff and foster parents. Dorothy is married to Dr. Ed Necco, Ed.D., and the couple resides in South Point, Ohio. The Necco's have two children, Edward D. Necco and Wendy Goodenough, and four grandchildren.


Edward "Beau" Necco
President & CEO, Carvaka, Inc.

Beau Necco comes from a family that has worked with troubled youth for over forty-five years. He holds an MBA from the American Graduate School of International Management in Glendale, AZ as well as a BA in philosophy with a Capstone certification in International Business Administration from the Ohio State University. Beau has traveled extensively, studying in foreign programs in Central and South America, the Caribbean and Europe as well as studying at Harvard University before going on to complete his MBA in Glendale.

Professionally, Beau's work in the area of foster care has gained him notable recognition in the state of Kentucky. His achievements have earned him the distinction of being Kentucky's Young Entrepreneur of the Year in 2000, an award bestowed on behalf of the U.S. Small Business Administration. In 2001, Necco was recognized for its commitment to the advancement of women in the workplace by being named Company of the Year by the Cincinnati Business Courier's annual Progress Awards.

In 2003 Beau was named a finalist in the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Awards. Most recently, Necco (a Carvaka subsidiary) placed 53rd on the 2003 Inc 500 list of fastest growing private companies in the United States with a five-year growth rate of 2,446%.

Personally, Beau has been married since 1999 to Deidra Necco, who is the Director of Marketing for Carvaka. The couple resides in South Point, Ohio with their two daughters. In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his family, spinning, and studying history.



Stephen O. Mullins
CFO, Carvaka, Inc.

Stephen O. Mullins is the Chief Financial Officer for Carvaka, Inc., and one of the founding members of the organization. He received a BA in Finance and Commercial Law from Marshall University in 1993. Stephen also holds an MBA International Finance from Thunderbird, The American Graduate School of International Management where he traveled throughout Europe, Asia, and Central and South America in pursuit of his education and interests. Since 1997, Steve has been co-owner, board member, and CFO of Carvaka, Inc. and its subsidiaries. In 2000, the U.S. Small Business Administration named Steve Young Entrepreneur of the Year.

Stephen Mullins and Beau Necco are like brothers, growing up together in southern Ohio. After the two of them graduated from Thunderbird in 1996, they went on to form Carvaka with Dr. Ed and Dorothy, Beau's parents. In addition to his duties at work, Steve enjoys many activities. He is a graduate of the N.O.L.S. (National Outdoor Leadership School.) He also enjoys such non-work pursuits as scuba-diving, mountaineering, photography, competitive cycling, running and tri-athlons.

When not involved with work or other pursuits Stephen enjoys spending time with his wife Teisha and assisting her in the development of a salon and spa in Ashland, Kentucky.



Wendy Necco Goodenough

Wendy is the Corporate Attorney and Chief Compliance Officer for Carvaka. She is the twin sister of Beau Necco, and daughter of founding members Dr. Ed and Dorothy Necco. In her role with Carvaka, Wendy ensures all aspects of corporate compliance including accreditation, licensure, and state and federal regulations for its partner companies. In addition, she oversees the human resources and the performance quality improvement departments for Carvaka and its subsidiaries. Wendy received her BA in Communications and International Business (Magna Cum Laude) from the Ohio State University in 1993. She went on to earn her M.A. in Political Science (Summa Cum Laude) from Marshall University in 1995. In 1998, Wendy received her JD from The Ohio State University School of Law.

As corporate attorney for Carvaka, Wendy is licensed to practice law in the states of Ohio (1998), WV (1999), and KY (2000). Her experience includes work for the WV Supreme Court of Appeals, the Franklin County Domestic Relations Court, and the law firm of Dungan & LeFevre in Troy, Ohio where she is still of counsel, and consults on family law issues.

Wendy has been married to Brad Goodenough for over 10 years. The couple resides in Proctorville, Ohio with their daughter Olivia and their son Nicholas.



Phillip R. Flesher, M.A., L.S.W.
Senior Adviser

Phillip R. Flesher is a principle and Senior Adviser for Carvaka, Inc. Mr. Flesher has over thirty years experience in the management and human services arena as well as a proven track record for effective project management and allocation of resources involving funding and personnel management. He served as Executive Director / Chief Executive Officer for the Youth Development Corporation of America (YDCA) for twenty-four years. During this time he directed the development and maintenance of the corporation and provided oversight to its services including residential centers, group homes, foster care, and other community based programs.

Phil Flesher received his B.A. with a specialization in Elementary Education and Mental Retardation from Marshall University (Huntington, WV) in 1972. He went on to earn his M.A. in Special Education / Education of the Emotionally Disturbed from Marshall in 1975. Since that time he has completed advanced graduate work at the University of North Dakota in the areas of Special Education and School Administration.

Mr. Flesher is active in the social services field and has held memberships in the Child Welfare League of America, the Council for Exceptional Children, the Ohio Association for Child Caring Agencies, and the National Association of Private Schools for Exceptional Children. In addition he has served on the board of directors for many community organizations.

In his role as Senior Adviser at Carvaka, Inc. Phil Flesher provides consultation on a broad range of management and industry specific issues including business and programming development.
